June 12th, 2019
June, 2019 – Fundația Inocenți – Bucharest Branch is running this year the project “Multi-art in the hospital” with the support of the Orange Foundation. Within this project, Inocenti specialists will organize daily therapeutic activities for the children hospitalized at the “Dr. Victor Gomoiu“ Children’s Clinical Hospital in Bucharest.
Every day, Fundatia Inocenti psychologists and volunteers join the over 250 hospitalized children and organize therapeutic and educational games adapted to the health of patients. They also provide help parents understand their child’s illness and to learn how to support the little patients. Activities include arts & crafts, group games, speech therapy, massage and counseling sessions.
This month, the Inocenti project team was joined by volunteer students from the Faculty of Medicine who taught children how to take care of their own health and how they can help those around them by giving first aid when needed. The volunteers also organized a presentation on puberty for adolescents admitted to hospital, who had the opportunity to talk freely with psychologists and future doctors about body and emotional changes that occurred in puberty.
Valentina Maghirescu, Director of Fundatia Inocenti – Bucharest Branch describes the program, “Most of the time, the hospital, medical procedures and treatment can be frightening, especially for children. Our programs create a real island of childhood in hospitals, with games, toys, stories, friends, empathy, joy and well-being. Every day, we are witnessing positive changes that small patients go through, and this reconfirms that we are doing the right thing together.”
The “Multi-Art in Hospital” project benefits from a financial support of 32,000 lei from Orange Foundation and is coordinated by Valentin Costache, an employee of Orange Romania, one of the 5 winners of this year’s “Support a NGO” competition.
“Support a NGO!” is a fund that provides funding for proposed philanthropy projects by employees and developed in collaboration with a nonprofit organization, this being an opportunity for Orange employees to learn to co-ordinate a project, learn to look for alternative funding resources for projects they believe in, learn to communicate within a project, to develop the ability to identify solutions to elementary social problems. In this way, the program aims to increase employees’ personal satisfaction, attachment to the Orange brand and motivate them to remain in the company.
